BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: His Excellency Ambassador Ljuben Tevdovski, B.A., M.A.

His Excellency Ljuben Tevdovski is the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to Canada and a Distinguished Fellow of New Westminster College. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and Archaeology from the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje and a Master of Arts in Contemporary Diplomacy from the University of Malta.

Ambassador Tevdovski has a distinguished record of ethical leadership and has served since 2009 as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Macedonia to Canada. Prior to his posting to Canada, Ambassador Tevdovski was the Advisor for Public Diplomacy to the President of the Republic of Macedonia and Member of the Council for Foreign Policy of the President of the Republic of Macedonia.

Ambassador Tevdovski has also served as the Director of the Sector for National Priorities at the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. While at the Ministry, Ambassador Tevdovski was a Public and Cultural Diplomacy Lecturer at the Macedonian Diplomatic Academy. He is one of the founding members of the Editorial Board of Crossroads, a Macedonian foreign policy journal published by the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and one of the three actual Advisors of the most prestigious Macedonian foreign policy journal.

Early in his career, Ambassador Tevdovski was involved in representing Macedonia in different regional and global organizations and initiatives, including UNESCO, Central European Initiative, SEE Cooperation Project, and implemented and led multiple projects in the Balkan region supported by the European Commission, Stability Pact for South East Europe, Austrian Federal Government, USAID and the British Council. He was the founder and Director of the Macedonian Cultural Diplomacy Institute, initiative he led together with some of the Macedonian leading intellectuals and diplomats including the former President of the Macedonian National Assembly and the Macedonian Ambassador to UNESCO. Ambassador Tevdovski created and managed the Independence Fest, the first international cultural festival dedicated to the celebration of the independence of Macedonia, and established and led the first YMCA in the country.

Ambassador Tevdovski has an extensive background in the field of international relations working for more than 11 years for different governmental institutions, educational, and civic organizations. He is a founding Board Member of the Macedonian Euro-Atlantic Forum. Ambassador Tevdovski has published analyses, toolkits and articles in various Macedonian and international publications, and is the author of a book titled Cultural Diplomacy – An Essential and Creative Component in the Toolkit of Contemporary Diplomacy.
