BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Chaplain (Major General) Charles E. Grooms, AA, BA, MA, DMin

Chaplain Grooms a Senior Fellow of New Westminster College. He earned an A.A. degree in Correctional Administration and an A.A. in Police Administration, both from Midland Technical College in 1973. And in 1975, he earned a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies from Southwestern College. Later in 1978, he earned a M.A. in Biblical Studies from Baptist Christian University and subsequently completed his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2000 from Coral Ridge Baptist University. Chaplain Grooms also completed the Chaplain Counselor Course at the U.S. Air University.

Chaplain Grooms has an outstanding record of ethical leadership. His professional experience includes:

  • 2009 – present: Senior Pastor, First Darlington Pentecostal Holiness Church, Darlington, South Carolina
  • 2004-2009: Retired, Joint Services Detachment, South Carolina Military Department
  • 2002-2004: Chaplain Advisor for Religious Affairs to the Adjutant General, South Carolina Military Department
  • 2002-2004: Director of Counseling Services, South Carolina Youth Challenge Program, Joint Services Detachment, South Carolina Military Department
  • 1998-2001: Directorate of Counseling Services, South Carolina Youth Challenge Program, Joint Services Detachment, South Carolina Military Department
  • 1995-1999: National Chaplain, State Guard Association of the United States
  • 1983-1998: Chief of Chaplains, South Carolina State Guard, South Carolina Military Department

Chaplain Grooms’s honours, awards and decorations include:
