BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Colonel Koji D. Nishimura, BS, MSS, MD, MSM, BSM

Colonel Dr. Koji D. Nishimura is a Senior Fellow of New Westminster College. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry; and in 1985, he graduated from the USUHS F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He has also completed the Sports Medicine Fellowship in 1997, which was affiliated with the U.S. Naval Academy, USUHS, DeWitt Army Community Hospital, Arlington Hospital and Georgetown University. In 2007, he earned a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His language proficiency includes, English, Japanese, German and Spanish.

Colonel Dr. Nishimura has a distinguished record of ethical leadership. His professional experience includes:

  • 2014 – present: Deputy Chief, Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army Medical Corps
  • 2012-2014: Commander, 30th Medical Command (Deployment Support), Task Force Medical-Afghanistan, and 30th Medical Brigade
