BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: His Excellency Ambassador Jan Top Christensen, M.Sc.

Ambassador Jan Top Christensen is the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Lebanon and a Distinguished Fellow of New Westminster College. He is a high school graduate of the Sct. Knuds Gymnasium where he studied mathematics and physics from 1966 to 1969, and he earned a M.Sc. in Political Science from the Institute of Political Science at the University of Aarhus in Aarhus, Denmark.

Ambassador Christensen has a distinguished record of ethical leadership and his professional experience includes:

  • 2007 – Present: Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Lebanon, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Denmark
  • 1990-2007: Head of Section, DHOD/HOD, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Denmark
  • 1993-1996: Counselor of Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Denmark
  • 1987-1990: Head of Field Office, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Geneva, Switzerland
  • 1983-1987: Research Fellow, Institute of East-West Studies (SDU)
  • 1979-1983: Associate  Professor in EU-US Relations and French Politics, University of Aarhus, Kingdom of Denmark
