Major General Mohammad Shamim Chowdhury is a Senior Fellow of New Westminster College. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government in 1983 from Dhaka University in Bangladesh, a Master of Defense Studies (M.D.S.) in Military Strategy and Tactics in 1994 from National University in Bangladesh, and a Master of Science (M.S.) in National Security Strategy in 2003 from the National War College at National Defense University in Washington, D.C. Major General Chowdhury is a graduate of the Bangladesh Military Academy, has fluent language proficiency in Bengali and English, and his professional training includes:

  • 2011: CAPSTONE Program in National Security, National Defense College, Bangladesh
  • 2002 to 2003: National War College, National Defense University, Washington D.C., USA
  • 2000: VVIP and Vital Facilities Security Course, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, USA

  • 2010 to 2012: Member, Senate Committee, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Dhaka. Chaired by the Education Minister, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
  • 2010 to 2012: Member, Board of Governors, National Defense College, Dhaka. Chaired by the Honorable Prime Minister, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
