Major General Walter M. Holmes is a retired senior officer of the Canadian Army and a Senior Fellow of New Westminster College. His Professional Military Education (PME) includes:

  • 1992-1993: United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, USA
  • 1982-1983: Canadian Forces Command and Staff College, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
  • 1977: Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College, Kingston, Ontario, Canada
  • 1973-1974: French Immersion Course, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada 

Major General Holmes has a distinguished record of ethical leadership and retired in 2003 from the Canadian Army. He is now a senior consultant with extensive leadership and management experience in a wide variety of high level military and civilian environments. He has proven skills in strategic and operational policy development and planning, emergency/crisis response, change management and international relations. His professional leadership experience includes:

  • 1993-1995: Canadian Forces Military Attaché, Canadian Embassy, Washington, DC
  • 1990-1992: Commander, Canadian Airborne Regiment
  • 1987-1990: Directing Staff Member, Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College
  • 1983-1985: Commanding Officer, 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment

  • Canadian Forces Decoration with three Bars
