BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Elisabeth Cayen, B.A., M.Sc., M.Ed.

Fellow Elisabeth Cayen currently resides in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada and is a Fellow of New Westminster College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Science in Education (Human Resource Development) from Leicester University, and a Master of Education from Athabasca University.

Fellow Cayen has an outstanding record of ethical leadership and since 2008 she has served as Executive Director of the Nunavut Fisheries Training Consortium in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. Her other professional experience includes:

  • 2000 to Present: Financial, Administrative and Human Resources Consultant, Tetlit Gwich’in Council, Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories
  • 2000 to Present: Financial, Administrative and Human Resources Consultant, Inuvik Native Band/Nihtat Gwich’in Council
  • 2000 to Present: Financial, Administrative and Human Resources Consultant, Tl’oondih Healing Society in Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories
  • September 2007 to August 2008: Executive Director, Aboriginal Futures Society, Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada
  • 1998 to 1999: Education and Training Consultant, Education and Training Department of the Gwich’in Tribal Council
  • 1996 to 1998: Education and Training Coordinator, Gwich’in Tribal Council, Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories, Canada
  • 1994 to 1995: Community Office Procedures Instructor, Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories, Canada

Fellow Cayen has served since 2009 as the Secretary of the Parish Council of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada, and has served since 2010 as the President of the Catholic Women’s League. She is also a Dame of the Order of St. George (DStG).
