New Westminster School of Language


The New Westminster School of Language is an exciting learning institution where many dedicated students from around the world congregate to master language proficiency. English as a Second Language is the primary language discipline attended, which includes modular courses and internationally recognized programmes that lead to English certification in language proficiency, English certification in business and leadership, and English certification for teaching qualifications.
Our language professors and instructors are native speakers of the language they are teaching and/or possess English as a Second Language teaching qualifications. The New Westminster School of Language prepares students for its internal English as a Second Language examinations for multiple academic programmes and qualifications. The New Westminster School of Language also prepares students to take and pass external English as a Second Language examinations, including those offered by the University of Cambridge and accepts the following University of Cambridge EOSL Examinations for admission and advanced placement in our English as a Second Language programmes:

Many learning modules are available to our students that can be taken in the classroom or in our cyber classroom at the convenience of our learner’s schedules. Three formal English as a Second Language programmes are offered by the New Westminster School of Language, including the Advanced Business English Programme, Advanced English Teaching Programme and the Advanced English Programme.

The Advanced Business English Programme is an advanced postgraduate course of study designed for professionals needing a professional upgrade to their business English skills. The innovative and interactive programme with its distinctive world-class curricula provides a very challenging and unique opportunity for students to advance their technical business English knowledge, upgrade their written and oral communication abilities, and develop innovative business presentation skills in English. The coursework delivered in the Advanced Business English Programme is supplemented with world class EOSL learning materials provided by the University of Cambridge EOSL that will challenge and reward the business English student whether you are a native English speaker or speak English as a second language. The Advanced Business English Programme consists of eight courses, which are outlined below:

The requirements for admission to the Advanced Business English Programme include a digital application, photograph, English language screening interview with the Advanced Business English Admissions Committee, interview with two active Governors of the Board of Governors, a relevant four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited university with a respectable grade point average, and two references. On occasion, waivers of admission requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis and granted to applicants with an exceptional professional background and acceptable proficiency in English. All waivers require unanimous consent by the Board of Governors.

Graduates of the Advanced Business English Programme are awarded the Executive Certificate in Advanced Business English and Life Membership in the New Westminster College Alumni Association. Graduates of the Advanced Business English Programme may qualify for the Business English Certificate from the University of Cambridge by registering and successfully passing the Cambridge EOSL BEC Professional English qualifying examination for business.

The Advanced English Teaching Programme is an advanced postgraduate course of study designed for tutors, teachers and instructors needing a professional upgrade to their English teaching skills. Graduates of the Advanced English Teaching Programme may also qualify for the Certificate of English Teaching from the University of Cambridge by registering for and successfully passing the Cambridge EOSL General English Teaching Award qualifying examination (Delta Module One), if the student concurrently enrolled for the Cambridge EOSL Delta Module One test preparation series with Cambridge EOSL.

The Advanced English Programme is an advanced course of study in English designed for individuals requiring advanced English proficiency in the private and public sector workplace. The innovative and interactive programme with its distinctive world-class curricula provides a very unique opportunity for a diversity of individuals from various professional disciplines to advance their English technical knowledge and upgrade their English speaking, comprehension, presentation and writing skills. The coursework delivered in the Advanced English Programme is supplemented with University of Cambridge EOSL learning materials that will challenge and reward students of English, whether a native English speaker or learner of English as a second language. The Advanced English Programme consists of eight English courses, which are outlined below:
