BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Grand Chief Marvin Yellowbird, ICD.D.

Grand Chief Marvin Yellowbird is a Distinguished Fellow of New Westminster College. He is Grand Chief of the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations, and Chief of the Samson Cree Nation.

Grand Chief Yellowbird earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary. He previously served on the Board of Governance of the Institute of Certified Directors of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

Grand Chief Yellowbird has a distinguished record of ethical leadership. He was elected and appointed Grand Chief of The Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations and works closely with and represents the 18 Chiefs and their respective Treaty Six communities throughout Canada, including the following First Nations:

  • Beaver Lake Cree Nation
  • Cold Lake First Nation
  • Ermineskin First Nation
  • Frog Lake First Nation

Grand Chief Yellowbird is also the duly elected Chief of the Samson Cree Nation in Alberta, Canada.
