BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Professor Dr. Alexandre Sévigny, BA, MA, PhD

Professor Dr. Alexandre Sévigny is a renowned communications scholar and a Senior Fellow of New Westminster College. He earned a B.A. (summa cum laude) in 1994 from York University, M.A. (A  Neurolinguistic Study of Two Cases of Conduction Aphasia) in 1995 from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. (Lexically-Driven Incremental Discourse Assembly) in 2000, also from the University of Toronto.

Professor Sévigny has an outstanding record of ethical leadership. His leadership experience includes:

  • 2011 – present: Director, Professional Communication Programs, Faculty of Humanities, McMaster University
  • 2012 – present: Associate Member, Department of French, McMaster University
  • 2006-2009: Associate Professor, Department of Communication Studies and Multimedia, McMaster University
  • 2009 – present: Adjunct Member, McMaster Health Forum, McMaster University
  • 2006-2009: Associate Professor (Joint Appointment), Department of French and Department of Communication Studies and Multimedia, McMaster University
  • 2006-2009: Associate Member, Department of Linguistics and Languages, McMaster University
  • 2006-2009: Associate Member, Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, McMaster University
  • 2001-2006: Assistant Professor (Joint Appointment), Department of French and Department of Communication Studies and Multimedia, McMaster University

Professor Sévigny has authored/co-authored four books, edited numerous special issues of journals and has made more than 435 appearances in the media.
