School of Diplomacy


The New Westminster School of Diplomacy is an innovative institution that provides executive education programmes utilizing world-class curriculum and learning platforms that allow executives, busy professionals and students to learn and upgrade their diplomacy, public management and governance acumen and currency in the global marketplace. Students at our Diplomacy School will encounter both rigorous cutting-edge curricula and professors well experienced in their respective profession.
Many learning modules are available to our students that can be taken in the classroom or in our cyber classroom at the convenience of our learner’s schedules. Three formal executive education programmes are offered, including: the Distinguished Ambassadors Programme, the Diplomatic Leadership Programme and the Advanced Diplomacy and Governance Programme.
Our diplomacy and governance programs have been previously taught by active and former senior political leaders, government executives, intelligence professionals, military Generals and Flag officers that all provide unique perspectives and insights to professional diplomacy and governance.

The Distinguished Ambassadors Programme is an advanced postgraduate course of study designed for senior-level political leaders and official representaives in government. The innovative and interactive programme with its distinctive world-class curricula provides a very challenging and unique opportunity for elected and appointed political officers, senior executive government leaders and international diplomats to advance their technical knowledge and upgrade their diplomatic leadership skills, governance acumen and currency in the global political arena. The coursework delivered in the Distinguished Ambassadors Programme is supplemented with Harvard Case Studies, readings from Harvard Business review and other learning materials that will challenge and reward seasoned politicians and diplomatic leaders with a distinguished record of ethical leadership. The Distinguished Ambassadors Programme consists of 12 diplomatic leadership courses and 39 sequential learning modules, which are outlined below:

The requirements for admission to the Distinguished Ambassadors Programme include a digital application, photograph, screening interview with the Diplomatic Programme Admissions Committee, interview with two active Governors of the Board of Governors, a relevant four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited university with an excellent grade point average, three professional references, and at least 15 years of senior political and diplomatic leadership experience. On occasion, waivers of admission requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis and granted to diplomatic leadership applicants with an exceptional leadership background. All waivers require unanimous consent by the Board of Governors.

Graduates of the Distinguished Ambassadors Programme are awarded the Ambassadors Master Diploma in Leadership and Diplomacy, the Distinguished Ambassador Laureate designation, Life Membership in the New Westminster College Alumni Association, and the Distinguished Ambassador Laureate Cross for business and formal wear.

Graduates of the Diplomatic Leadership Programme are awarded the Executive Certificate in Diplomatic Leadership, Membership in the New Westminster College Alumni Association, and the Diplomatic Leadership Medallion for business and formal wear. Upon petition and approval by the Diplomatic Programmes Admissions Committee, courses completed in the Diplomatic Leadership Programme are transferable for credit to the Distinguished Ambassadors Programme.

The Advanced Diplomacy and Governance Programme is an advanced course of study designed for government officials and political leaders early into their professional career. The innovative and interactive programme with its distinctive world-class curricula provides a very unique opportunity for government executives from various professional disciplines to advance their technical knowledge and upgrade their diplomacy, governance and leadership skills. The coursework delivered in the Advanced Diplomacy and Governance Programme is supplemented with Harvard Case Studies, readings from Harvard Business review and other learning materials that will challenge and reward government leaders with a record of ethical leadership. The Advanced Diplomacy and Governance Programme consists of five diplomatic leadership courses and 16 sequential learning modules, which are outlined below:

Graduates of the Advanced Diplomacy and Governance Programme are awarded the Certificate in Advanced Management, Membership in the New Westminster College Alumni Association, and the Advanced Management Medallion for business and formal wear. Upon petition and approval by the Diplomatic Programmes Admissions Committee, courses completed in the Advanced Diplomacy and Governance Programme are transferable for credit to the Diplomatic Leadership Programme.
