Brigadier General Mahfooz Al Shehhi is a retired Staff Brigadier General of the UAE Armed Forces and a Senior Fellow of New Westminster College. He graduated from the Cadets Course No. 6 in 1981 at the Zayed the 2ndMilitary College in Al Ain, UAE, and has language proficiency in English, Arabic and Spanish. He is a 1992 graduate of the UAE Armed Forces Command Staff College in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and a 1994 graduate of the British Army Staff College, Camberly in Surrey, U.K.  He qualified for a Diploma in Military Studies in 2003 from the U.S. Army War College and also earned a Master of Military Studies (MSS) degree in 2003 from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, USA.  Brigadier General Mahfooz Al Shehhi’s other professional development and military education includes:

Brigadier General Mahfooz Al Shehhi has an outstanding record of ethical leadership and has over 30 years of successful management and leadership experience with a reputation for meeting the most challenging organizational goals and objectives. He served in the UAE Armed Forces from 1979 to 2009 and retired with the rank of Staff Brigadier General. He has been a Partner at Masante since retirement in 2009. His last military duty assignment was Defense, Military, Naval and Air Attaché assigned to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C. His duties included the traditional Attaché to liaise with Department of Defense, Department of the Army, department of the Navy, Department of the Air Force, and the Department of State, in addition to managing Military Education and Training across the USA and Canada, with additional responsibility for ensuring the safety, security and provision of medical care and treatment for the UAE military, Abu Dhabi Health Authority patients, and their escorts, from arrival to the USA until Departure. He regularly engaged with U.S. Government officials, Think Tanks and Non-governmental Organizations and the public. He is credited with the strengthening of bi-lateral relations between the UAE and USA, which supported and served UAE and USA business, education and training, healthcare and defense procurement for large-scale projects.  Brigadier General Mahfooz Al Shehhi’s other leadership experience includes:

  • Chief, General Logistics Department, Directorate of Logistics, General Headquarters
  • Chief, Air Force and Air Defense Studies Department, Joint Command and Staff College
  • Logistics Chief (S-4), 71st Air Defense Brigade, Air Force and Air Defense
  • Commander, Medium Range Missiles Maintenance Command, Air Force and Air Defense
  • Commander, Basic Training Wing, Air Force and Air Defense Institute

Brigadier General Mahfooz Al Shehhi has lectured at many universities, colleges and schools in the UAE and USA. He is a former Director of Air Force Studies at the UAE Joint Command and Staff College and has served as an instructor at the Air Defense School and Zayed Military College. He is also a former Member of the Curriculum Development Team with British Officers in the UAE. His academic interests include history, science and technology.
