BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Mr. William R. Cathcart, Jr., BA, FNWC

Mr. William R. Cathcart, Jr. is a Fellow of New Westminster College. He has an outstanding record of ethical leadership and is an accomplished journalist and public communications strategist with experience in a wide range of publishing and broadcast media and has been an adjunct professor of journalism at Tbilisi State University.

Mr. Cathcart’s career as a freelance writer began in Argentina and he subsequently traversed five continents with numerous articles published in a wide variety of media, including The Daily Beast, Anderson Cooper 360, The National Review Online, Georgian Journal, Humanevents.com, and the Buenos Aires Herald. He also covered the tumultuous political situation on scene in Zimbabwe in 2009, which was published on CNN.com.

In collaboration with the former First Lady of Georgia, Mr. Cathcart has become a leader in advocating for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients in the Caucasus region. A CF patient himself, he has was appointed by the Georgian Ministry of Health to represent the interests of CF patients, applying his extensive experience with the disease and its diagnosis mechanisms. His professional experience includes:

  • 2010-2011: Media Advisor to the President, Presidential Administration, Republic of Georgia
  • 2007-2010: Senior Reporter and Web Editor, Charleston Mercury

  • 2006-2007: Guest Lecturer, Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, Facultad de Lenguas
  • 2005-2006: Graphic Designer, Charleston Magazine
